Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford has been an American actress, dancer and singer since the early 1990s. She started her Broadway career in musicals like Wicked, Legally Blonde, and Hair. In the musical, Hair. Tony Award was given to Ashford for her performance as Essie Carmichael in You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh Ashley Tony Award winning actor and actress, has worked with directors and actors both on screen and stage for the entirety of her professional career. Ashford's next project will be a limited edition Hulu series titled Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show premieres on November 22, and Ashford plays opposite Kumail Najiani. Ashford currently works on Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust with Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch-Bachrach. It will also be available on Hulu Original on Disney DTC. Ashford will be seen alongside Josh Groban on Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre during the march 2023 production of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton is the director of the show. Ashford played Paula Jones, the main role in Ryan Murphy's latest FX series American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on the scandal that brought Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp along with other key actors into the very first impeachment proceedings in America for more than 100 years. Ashford appeared for two seasons in the CBS successful comedy B Positive. The show was developed by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre with the famous Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Ashford, who is not unfamiliar with Broadway was awarded both Tony Drama Desk Awards as well as Outer Critics Circle Awards in the role of Essie. Additional Broadway performances are Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and her first role as Lauren in Kinky Boots a performance for which she also received a Tony Award nomination. Ashford is a Denver origins native, and now splits her time in Los Angeles.
